Safe, affordable housing is a basic human right and “forms the very foundation of creating a healthy community,” said Councillor Jim Erb, a keen advocate for more affordable housing.
The new subsidy is “giving some of these folks living in housing that is maybe not adequate for them an opportunity to get into better accommodation, so that they can have a healthier lifestyle for themselves and for their family,” Erb said. “It’s giving them a step up into something better.”
